The Floor is Yours
We have an entire library of resources ready for the full launch for this community. But before we dive in we want to hear from you first.
What do you actually want to see? What topics do you want us to explore together? What information would help you make more confident decisions for your practice? What would make you open this app every single day?
Nothing is off the table so let us know.

I I think what Nina said is a great topic. But I also think it would be really helpful to expand beyond just growing as a solo designer and include what it actually looks like to start and operate as a new or solo designer.
We may understand the design side, but not necessarily how to execute everything from beginning to end or navigate the business side of things.
For example, how do you find reliable resources and vendors when you don’t already have those connections? Things like locating a workroom for custom drapery, upholstery services, or other trade professionals. What should we be looking for? What questions should we be asking? These are the kinds of things you would normally learn by working under a senior designer or through an internship, but many of us don’t have that opportunity.
It would be really helpful to have guidance around building those resources from scratch, especially for designers who may not be in larger cities with a lot of readily available connections.
I also think topics around the business side would be valuable. Things like contracts, best practices, protecting both ourselves and our clients, and just overall systems that help things run smoothly.
And then even ongoing education, like how to stay up to date on trends, sourcing, and industry changes without feeling overwhelmed.
Basically, bridging the gap between knowing how to design and knowing how to actually run a successful, sustainable design business.
I know you guys already have lots of resources available which may cover some of these things. I’m a new & solo designer who is starting this as a second career so may I’m the only one who would find this useful.

@Nina Lichtenstein thank you for this. Are there any specific areas of business growth you would like to dig into? Are there additional avenues you have already researched or are you looking for fresh ideas?

@Whitney Kerr you are not alone in this and what you shared is exactly the kind of insight that drives what we build! Everything you outlined is already in the works and will be a core part of what is coming. 🙌🏻

I will second what Nina and Whitney said. I love and adore the design aspect but lack the knowledge and know how of translating this into starting and running my own business – from the ground floor (like, please write this in crayon so I can understand it because I am still in kindergarten and need help ground floor).
A mentorship program would be amazing for those of us just starting out and for those at a more experienced level. Everyone has something to offer and everyone has something to learn. Often, it seems as if there is so much “gate-keeping” when it comes to such things. I am not here to compete with anyone or steal clients, I am here to learn and grow and soak in the wisdom and knowledge of those who have walked the path before me and those who are walking alongside me. And, one day, be able to lead others as they grow.
